Day 7 – CV Joint woes

It was time to try and reassemble the CV joints…  Made the mistake of cleaning the bearings in varsol… had to take each and everyone of them apart (6 in total) to clean and dry off the varsol. There were 44 ball-bearing rods in each – 264 in total. All had to be put back in by hand.

Ian’s girlfriend Sam came over today expecting to spend some quality time with her boyfriend… Instead she cleaned the grease out of the CV joint housings (and helped assemble the bearings). It’s ready to be put back in the car! She did volunteer by the way…

Meanwhile, Ian worked on the other end of the CV joint – Cleaning off the CV “spiders” and CV “boots”.

We’re just about ready to plop the transmission back in and refill the CV joints with CV joint grease.

I also reattached the dented fender to the car, only to discover I missed a big dent. Back to the hammering stump!
