Day 29 – Bit more bondo, and success so close!

While I worked on the body of the car (I’m getting pretty good with bondo!) Ian fixed up some problems with the motor mount. Unfortunately the spacing is still off so the clutch isn’t working perfect…
Here are some pictures of the bodywork:

Also, since it’s almost impossible to find an exact paint match we’re thinking of covering up the patches with either advertisements or funny warning labels. The front dented side bumper is going to probably have the name of the car, while the back will feature warning labels. I’m thinking around the gas lid we can have a funny electrocution warning label which surrounds it (effectively covering up the patch job).

While I did bondo, Ian attempted to fix the clutch again – didn’t quite work. But we’re getting closer. I welded some battery lugs onto some thick welding wire and we attempted to build a battery pack for testing. Here’s a picture:

Scavenging the dead batteries from the garage we thought they still had some juice left in them. The charger said they were full… Plugged it all in and it went slower then the del sols auxilery battery! Quite a disapointment… With 48V we could of made it up the street! Oh well. Next step is stealing the big 6V’s from the motorhome… Test drive on the road soon!
